Voice

Singaporean soprano Janani Sridhar is equally at home in opera and on the concert stage. Her performance engagements have taken her around Europe, Asia, and America. She is also an avid recitalist known for her diverse and engaging programming. 

Dr. Sridhar has performed with renowned opera companies such as Singapore Lyric Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, Toledo Opera, LOLA, Fort Worth Opera, and Salt Marsh Opera. Some of her operatic roles include Ortlinde (Die Walküre), Micaëla (Carmen), Alice (Falstaff), Rusalka (Rusalka), Musetta (La Bohème), Adina (L’Elisir d’amore), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Violetta (La Traviata), and Antonia (Les Contes d’Hoffmann).

Dr. Sridhar’s concert performances include Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Schubert’s Mass No. 2, Mahler’s Symphony No. 8, Bach's Cantata No. 140,  Rutter's Gloria, and Mahler’s Symphony No. 4. Her orchestral engagements comprise of collaborations with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Singapore Chinese Orchestra, Orchestra of the Music Makers, Toledo Symphony Orchestra, Stony Brook Baroque Players, Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, Salt Marsh Opera Orchestra, Des Moines Metro Opera Festival Orchestra, Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, Baroque Artists of Shreveport, and the New England Symphonic Ensemble.

A passionate proponent of contemporary music, Dr. Sridhar has premiered works by American and Singaporean composers, and has also had the honor of working with composers Jake Heggie, Libby Larsen, and Tom Cipullo. She was selected to be part of Fort Worth Opera's Frontiers festival which showcases new operatic works and performed in Behold the Man, and The Hatfield-McCoy Triptychs. Dr. Sridhar also had the privilege of creating the role of the Manager in the world premiere of the crossover opera Yeltsin in Texas! by Evan Mack and Joshua McGuire.

Sought after as a pedagogue, Dr. Sridhar has taught in Singapore, New York, Connecticut, Texas and Louisiana. Her students have received full marks in statewide music examinations, achieved top rankings in music competitions, and won chairs in both regional and statewide choirs. Dr. Sridhar has served as an adjudicator for the Texas Private School Music Educators Association, and National Association of Teachers of Singing. She has also been invited to present at conferences, and speak on panels as an industry professional. Her previous teaching appointments include Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Centenary College of Louisiana. Dr. Sridhar is thrilled to serve as the Voice Area Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Voice at 69É«ÇéÊÓƵ.
