Sandy Williams has been a fixture on the Indiana music scene for several decades. His live performance credits span performing with alt-country rocker Steve Earle, crooner Michael Feinstein (live PBS special and DVD), Liza Minnelli, Idina Menzel, the Steve Allee Big Band, Allen Vizzutti, Leon "Ndugu" Chancler, and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. As a studio musician his credits include The Rounder Records box-set (with Carrie Newcomer), jazz arranger John Clayton, John Mellencamp’s movie soundtrack Falling From Grace (with Larry Crane), numerous comedy CD’s, Lamar Campbell, Reverend Al Hobbs, Bill Gaither, and hundreds of radio and TV jingles. He is the author of Live Sound For Guitar (pub.Cengage Learning) and technical editor for many of the Guitar For Dummies series books. He was proofreader for four books by Steely Dan guitarist Jon Herington. Sandy earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University with an emphasis on Jazz Studies and Ethnomusicology, as a student of David Baker and Dr. Ruth Stone. He has attended numerous jazz workshops around the country by artists including Joe Pass, Michael Brecker, and Bob Mintzer. He attended a ten day workshop in Cambridge, Massachusetts with composer George Russell, author of the Lydian Chromatic Concept. Sandy is a member of ASCAP and the American Federation of Musicians, Local 3.
