More Information

Current students must submit the  annually by March 1 to determine financial aid eligibility, including grants, loans and work study. DePauw's school code is 001792.

Beginning June 1, need-based scholarship assistance is awarded based on funding availability. If special circumstances prevent you from meeting these deadlines, please contact the Financial Aid Office.

Important note for Indiana residents: The State of Indiana requires filing the FAFSA by April 15th in order to be eligible for state financial aid.

If you are selected by the federal government for verification, you will receive a separate request from the Financial Aid Office identifying what additional items are required to complete the file. The deadline for submitting these items is 30 days from the time of notification or by March 1, whichever date occurs later.

Returning students applying for financial aid will be notified in early June.

Eligible students who complete the FAFSA will be awarded federal student loan(s) in their financial aid package.

Loans typically disburse to your student account ten days before the start of each semester and are applied to any outstanding educational charges. Origination fees are deducted from federal loans at the time of disbursement.

If you have borrowed a Federal Direct Student Loan in a prior year, we will automatically originate your student loan up to the maximum amount based on your eligibility. If you do not wish to borrow the loans or would like a lower amount, please send an email to financialaid@depauw.edu with your specific request.

Departmental Awards are announced at the end of each academic year for use during the following year for returning students DePauw.

Students interested in applying for departmental awards should contact the academic department chair for information about the application process. Application information should be available in February from the appropriate departments. Awards are not generally renewable, although some students may receive an award for more than one year. Full-time enrollment during the academic year is required to receive an award.

Some departmental awards or upperclassmen prizes are made to students graduating from DePauw the year in which they are awarded. In these cases, federal regulations may require adjustments to the students existing financial aid awards in order to maintain compliance.

Off-campus opportunities may have additional costs not included in a financial aid award.

We encourage students to contact the appropriate offices to see if additional funding is needed to help with the costs of off-campus study. Semester-long or year-long off-campus financial support information can be found on the Off-Campus Study website. Additional information about Extended Studies, including Winter Term and May Term is available on the Registrar's website.
