Bio:

Arthur Evans conducts research on French author Jules Verne and early science fiction; he is considered the preeminent authority on Verne. Evans is managing editor of Science Fiction Studies, a leading science fiction journal housed at DePauw. He also is the series editor for Early Classics of Science Fiction published by Wesleyan University Press. Evans is editor of The Wesleyan Anthology of Science Fiction, probably the most widely used textbook about science fiction. In total, Evans is author, coauthor or editor of nearly 40 books, primarily focused on science fiction. He did the first English translations of four of Jules Verne's books.

Evans pioneered the use of French music in the classroom at DePauw. Over the years, he wrote original compositions in French and then used them in his classes in order to help students more easily learn proper pronunciation of French words. This approach is now becoming a popular method of pedagogy.
