Kim holds a Ph.D. in Educational Management, Higher Education from Hampton University. Kim is the Director of Pre-College Engagement & Special Assistant to the President’s Office at 69É«ÇéÊÓƵ. Her primary responsibility is to facilitate a pre-college experience for on-campus youth programs. She provides oversight and day-to-day operations for this inaugural program. Kim previously served as the TRIO: Student Support Services at Washington University. Her primary responsibility was to provide management of the day-to-day operations. She also provided leadership in developing and implementing services to ensure high-quality, effective experiences for first-generation, low-income students and students with disabilities. Kim was also the founding chair of the Black Faculty and Staff Cabinet at Washington University. Kim served as an adjunct professor at Washington University in the Department of Education.
In previous roles, Kim served as the Special Assistant to the President at Trinity Washington University her portfolio included Institutional Research. Kim served as a political appointee in the Obama administration in the role of Special Assistant, in the Office of Communications and Outreach, External Affairs and the Office of Post-Secondary Education at the U. S. Department of Education in Washington, DC. She served in the Obama Administration during the first term, while also serving as an adjunct professor at the University of the District of Columbia’s Community College, where she taught in the Social Sciences department.
Kim has 23 years of education experience on the middle school, high school, collegiate, non-profit and federal levels. She has a passion to work with underserved and marginalized students, providing academic resources, college access opportunities, and assisting students with navigating their path to graduation. Kim is the author of a children’s book, “When Auntie Comes to Visit: Christmas with Auntie”. Kim is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and serves on a host of committees. Kim also serves the marketing and diversity advisory boards at the Opera Theater of St. Louis.
